Verizon Wireless documents have leaked out this week confirming that the wireless carrier will carry the V3m. The improved Motorola RAZR adds memory card and V Cast Music support to the product line. While the device was designed to support both V Cast Music and Sprint’s Music Store, PCS Intel can confirm that Sprint does not intend to launch the device at this time.
Motorola continues to suffer internal problems in implementing a reliable MIDP 2.0 implementation into CDMA phones. While other carriers such as Bell in Canada have launched CDMA MIDP 2.0 Motorola devices, Sprint has much more stringent standards, including their own MIDP extensions that must be supported before a device can launch.This problem is expected to be resolved later this year as the critical deadline approaches for Motorola’s dual-network CDMA+iDEN handsets which will primarily utilize Sprint PCS, and not Nextel’s data services. Sprint will further its slim-phone lineup with the launch of the Samsung A900P, expected to launch within the next 90 days.
