After being the last carrier to officially carry the phone, Verizon has announced pricing and launch details for the Motorola Nexus 6. The phone will officially launch on March 19th in retail stores for $249.99 after a conventional 2-year agreement or $27.08 monthly for 24 months on Verizon’s EDGE installment plan with a bonus 6-month subscription to Google Play All-Access. Online orders for the device are currently available for new and current customers.
Of note for current users of the phone on Verizon that purchased their phones from Google Play is the fact that Google’s Android 5.1 update includes support for the previously announced HD Calling protocol, which Verizon calls “Advanced Calling 1.0” as well as the addition of SVDO, better known as Simultaneous Voice and Data support, which allows users access to LTE data while on a voice call, a rarity on Verizon LTE smartphones.
Devices being shipped to Verizon will ship with Android 5.1 while being identical in terms of hardware, with a contoured aluminum frame, a 5.9-inch Quad HD display and a 13-megapixel rear camera. The large screen is complemented by dual front-facing stereo speakers. It also comes with a Turbo Charger, for up to six hours of use with only 15 minutes of charging. Hardware specs include a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
