Motorola Droid Mini Pre-Order Shipping Date Pushed Up By Verizon

By Humberto Saabedra on August 21, 2013

Motorola Droid MiniVerizon has officially confirmed that those customers that pre-ordered the Motorola Droid Mini flagship smartphone in late July will be receiving the phone starting tomorrow morning rather than the originally slated August 29th shipping date for pre-orders given at the time of the phone’s original announcement. As the phone is a part of the new Droid lineup, it features the following specifications:

  • DROID Command Center will centralize all of the important alerts and information most commonly accessed by users at a glance, such as weather conditions, missed calls/messages and battery life.
  • DROID Zap will utilize wireless data access and cloud storage to send content to other devices without needing to support specific hardware dependent technologies such as NFC or Wi-Fi Direct
  • Miracast wireless broadcast support for sending multimedia to displays as well as display mirroring
  • Built-in wireless charging support via Qualcomm’s WiPower standard built into its current processor line.
  • Motorola’s custom “X8 Mobile Computing System” which takes the reference Snapdragon designs and adds additional application cores for voice calls and always-on voice recognition without drawing excessive amounts of power
  • Touchless Control, which allows for complete device control without needing to physically interact with the device.

Motorola Droid Mini wideThe Droid Mini features a 1.7 GHz dual-core CPU with a quad-core GPU, 2GB of RAM and LTE underpinned by Android Jelly Bean 4.2. The DROID Mini will also feature a 10 megapixel camera and a slight decrease in storage to 16GB with a smaller 4.3 inch display compared to the Ultra and MAXX. The device will launch later this month through the rest of Verizon’s sales channels for $99.99 after a new 2 year agreement.
