Microsoft has updated ActiveSync to version 4.5, an incremental update to their
venerable synching software for Pocket PC devices. Most notable in this
release is the ability to sync photos to Outlook 2003, faster file
transfers, local device wipe, Microsoft Direct Push, and certificate
powered authentication to Microsoft Exchange servers.
However in order
to use the update, you have to run Outlook XP or 2003 and Windows
Mobile 5.0 or higher as it is incompatible with Outlook 2000.
This release, like previous versions, lacks remote device syncing over Wi-Fi and LAN
connections, for security reasons.
