Sprint today announced that they have decided to not deploy Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology for Mobile TV. The service, which would have been branded Sprint VUE, was canceled after technical trials did not produce desired results.
Trials of Sprint VUE had reached the end-user, with Sprint distributing prototype Samsung M250 handsets (which has now been cancelled) in select cities with MediaFLO service already established. RCR News is reporting that Sprint may reconsider its decision in the future. For now however, Sprint will rely on its advanced 3GPP2 and H.264B Sprint TV solution, already in all multimedia-class Sprint phones.
