With seamless handoffs between GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks and WiFi networks the HP iPaq 510 is a dual mode phone that is sure to catch on. Also with 6.5 hours of talk time and Windows Mobile 6 Standard, the iPAQ 510 is aimed directly at other high end devices.
“The HP iPAQ 500 series Voice Messenger features voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) capabilities, push email and the latest Windows® Mobile 6 operating system. With up to six hours of continuous talk time on a fully charged battery, the HP iPAQ Voice Messenger also leads the competition in battery life. As the first in HP’s new smartphone lineup, the HP iPAQ 500 series helps highly mobile professionals stay connected wherever they are.”
With a price of $299 to $349 for an unlocked version the iPAQ 510 would seem to have a price advantage over it’s competitors. This advantage may be needed since the iPAQ 510 lacks a Qwerty style keyboard that has become almost standard for smartphones. No firm launch date has been announced as of yet, but the April-May (this spring) time-frame has been mentioned.
