AT&T has just chosen MediaFLO, the technology behind Verizon’s
forthcoming V CAST TV service (as well as Sprint’s VUE TV service) to launch its own non-cellular mobile television service with additional features such as multicast video clip distribution, a real-time datacasting application for information and entertainment, and audio services.
Phones compatible with MediaFLO will be launched sometime this year
though no specific devices were announced nor were release dates
available for the service or devices, though the line stating
MediaFLO’s launch of more advanced services in the second half of ’07
with AT&T stating access to those aforementioned features may mean
a launch sometime near Fall, in line with the rollout by MediaFLO.
