As expected, Verizon has launched the Touch Pro 2 from HTC.
The device features the dual-mode quadband GSM/CDMA radio for international roaming with included SIM card (locked to Vodafone networks), 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, accelerometer, 3.6 inch WVGA display with tilt mechanism, microSDHC expansion slot, TV output, and Straight Talk dual-microphone speakerphone with mute button.
The Touch Pro 2 is now available for $299.99 after new 2 year agreement and data plan before an additional $100 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $199.99 as well as $269.99 on a 1 year agreement and $489.99 retail.
Ok AT&T……………. Sprint has it and now Verizon. What are you waiting for here?
Enough with the iPhone crap, we want a real phone.
Well I went to my local Verizon store in hopes that it would be for sale in the store, unlike the original touch pro when it first launched. Alas I was told that it was only available online. You can not get even call sales to order it over the phone. Online Only. I hope I got my order in early enough so I will see it Monday sometime.
You can order the phone over sales, you will just not get the online promotion…you will have to deal with the whole mail in rebate process. Which after they receive it, you should get a rebate card in around two weeks. I order this morning before the promotional price was even showing up online.
I got mine yesterday and played with it all day. I am very pleased….very, very pleased indeed. Verizon did not mess with any features from the GSM version. The phone is absolutely remarkable…. I don’t even know where to start. But there are some minor things I would like to change. First, no Flash for the camera. No biggie. Second, the Straight Talk feature is omitted for some reason ( unless I’m looking in the wrong place ). And third, I wish Verizon would have included VCast with Rhapsody support on the phone, as I love my music. You also cannot edit Pictures ( Rotate, Crop, etc. ) like you can on the XV 6800. I love the MP3 trimmer and TV Out capabilities though. Overall, I give it a 9.5.
will the ******* thing still be locked up with brew? why verizon doesn’t get their heads out of their asses and support java for web browsing is beyond me!!
John, all Windows Mobile phones do not use BREW. No Verizon smartphone uses BREW, with the exception of V CAST Music on the Motorola Q9m.
