Microsoft yesterday issued the final version of Windows Mobile Device Center for download. Despite contradictory statements from Microsoft in the past, previous versions of Windows Mobile Device Center (offered even with Vista at times) were all beta releases. If you are running Vista with Windows Mobile Device Center currently, you will need to uninstall it before installing the final version.
If you haven’t yet installed Windows Mobile Device Center, Windows update will automatically offer to install Windows Mobile Device Center. Users running the 64-bit version of Windows Mobile Device Center beta may need to uninstall and then install the final version of Windows Mobile Device Center twice before using Windows Mobile Device Center successfully.
Windows Mobile Device Center replaces ActiveSync in Windows Vista. We will have a full review of Windows Vista and Windows Mobile Device Center shortly.
