Information has surfaced regarding a new data plan offering from Verizon that is meant for those people not interested in the additional cost of the VCAST multimedia service for mobile internet access, or those that simply do not wish to pay the high cost of the Premium plan selection in order to use unlimited data,
The new data plan will be known as Connect and will be offered for $10 a month on November 14th with a Select or other non-Premium voice plan for those customers that want unlimited data without needing to bother with VCAST services. Â
While the Premium plans bundle data, messaging, VCAST access, and navigation, the total cost of a Select voice plan bundled with the new Connect data plan will be cheaper by about $5 a month compared to a plan with unlimited VCAST/data access and $10 compared to a Premium plan without adding the additional $20 unlimited messaging/email add-on launching on the same day.
And no, this isn’t available for smartphones, it’s simply meant to replace the MW2.0 plan which was on pre-Nationwide plans.
WM2.0: $5/mo with airtime minutes used.
Connect: $10/mo, no airtime used
V CAST vPak: $15/mo, Connect + V CAST Video
Considering the pre-Nationwide plans also offered a V CAST w/o Mobile Web 2.0 for only $10/month, this isn’t a rate drop… it’s just filling one of Verizon’s plan holes.
I mentioned this plan on an earlier post before they announced it. It may be “just $5” cheaper than V-Cast … but in this economy, I will take what I can get. And it’s actually a $10 value …. since Mobile Email (unlimited use) is included. Not too many people ( at least in MY neck of the woods anyway ) had any real use for V-Cast.
