Following the over the air update last week, Verizon has officially staged the Motorola Droid X2 Gingerbread update on its servers and is available for manual updates.
The update includes a new download manager, multi-key input, improved word selection, highlighting and copy/paste functionality, improved user interface and adds device/memory card encryption along with IPSec VPN support.
Additional features include Google Books, Geo-tagging for photos, and easier conference calling along with individual reminder dismissal.
Fixes include reduced screen animation lag and locking, a working HDMI indicator that clears out when the cable is connected, a fix for duplicate text messages, a fix for MDN changes forcing data connection resets, proper display of home screen widgets, proper battery capacity displayed and fixes for dock sound playback along with VZW Navigator functioning over Wi-Fi and a new Vibrate icon.
