Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam has explained the recent shortage of the HTC Droid Incredible as being tied to the decreasing availability and increasing popularity of AMOLED displays sourced from Samsung, who are also using the displays across its current device line up. In response, Samsung has ramped up production, with the carrier being able to meet the increased demand in the next 1-2 months.
Having been recently launched late last month in the wake of the cancellation of the CDMA version of the Nexus One, the Incredible has gone on to become more popular than Verizon’s initial expectations, with an initial sell out on launch through its online store and further online availability now slated in the middle of June as a result of both its position as Verizon’s current flagship Android device and the component shortage.
