Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam has made a few announcements today during a webcast and investor conference regarding the Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 2, and LTE, with the biggest announcement regarding Android availability.
According to the CEO, the Palm Pre and a second generation Storm would be available during the next six months along with phones based on Android later in the same timeframe. McAdam also went into further detail regarding Palm device availability stating that “a cousin to the Pre” would also be available with no further elaboration.
Regarding LTE deployment, McAdam confirmed that the LTE network would expand to 210 markets in 2013 up from the preliminary figure of 20-30 markets beginning service later this year into 2010. Speeds for the network will range from 8-12Mbps while making a slight jab at AT&T by stating that “We will have double the spectrum depth in most markets, and the physics is that the ceiling for their network will be the floor for our network when it comes to speeds … when we get to 4G, there will be no question who is the fastest.”
Finally, when asked to elaborate on Android availability, McAdam stated “we’ve had some very good dialogs with Google, we like what we see and we will in fact be bringing Android devices to the marketplace in the near future.”
Am I the only one who thinks “devices like” is not saying they will get the Pre but alluding to the EOS?
Now there’s a report they won’t get the Pre at all
