If you waited until midnight to order your Droid X, only to find people that ordered hours later are getting their Droids… and you’re not… you might be concerned.
Unfortunately, Verizon today admitted to PhoneNews.com that their commitments to be able to meet demand were incorrect. Verizon’s Northeastern Operations Center confirmed that they were short shipped orders, and unable to ship orders made on launch day.
Worse, customers that diligently ordered when the phone went online, are now being kicked to the back of the line. The company blames a system failure for not correctly sequencing orders of Droid X phones, due to a large number of orders being placed simultaneously. The result is, that customers who ordered first, are now unable to have their orders filled.
Those customers will have to wait for restock shipments from Motorola, expected on July 23, according to Verizon.
Verizon’s operations center denied that they had any plans to compensate customers who were inappropriately kicked to the back of the line, claiming that it isn’t possible to immediately discern how many customers were affected. Verizon had no comment when PhoneNews.com mentioned that the order emails are clearly time stamped, and that affected customers could easily tell if they are, indeed, kicked to the back of the line.
