Verizon this week completed the rollout of V CAST Video for Smartphones. The feature now enables BlackBerry and Windows Mobile users on Verizon’s network, to watch the same video content available to V CAST Video users on non-smartphones.
The lack of V CAST Video access has been a point of contention for Verizon Wireless customers. Users for years have paid multiples in data fees, ranging as high as $45 per month, while non-smartphones have had EV-DO access, plus V CAST Video, for only $10 to $15 per month. In addition, Verizon rolled out V CAST Music support on the Motorola Q9m, with no native application for V CAST Video.
In fact, V CAST Video is powered by Windows Media technology, making this a minor technical barrier that has taken Verizon years to overcome. V CAST Video is now available from the home portal on all compatible Verizon smartphones.
Look for mobil tv or video.
