GPS solutions developer TomTom has officially released its long-awaited application for the iPhone 3G/3G S.The TomTom app currently uses the built-in A-GPS hardware in the above models ahead of the release of the dedicated cradle with built-in high-sensitivity GPS transceiver and bundled app combo.
The application is also currently one on the most expensive consumer oriented apps in the App Store at $99.99 but the pricing is justified by the almost identical behavior of the app compared to a standalone TomTom unit after independent testing with the advantage of the capacitive display aiding menu navigation compared to the resistive displays found on standalone TomTom units.
Are maps stored locally or received OTA? I think there is a happy medium where you can receive map updates forever, but not have to consume 1Gig of space on the phone. I just wonder who will hit it first.
They are locally stored and updated OTA. Same with POI info.
Will this app b available for the touch
Once the companion TomTom dock is launched later on, the iPod Touch will be supported, provided its been upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0.
