Samsung has announced the availability of its TouchWiz Widget SDK for interested developers to use for deployment of compatible widgets on Samsung devices based on the Eclipse development platform.
To that end the manufacturer has also announced a devcamp set for next month where invited developers will be able to compete in a 24 hour marathon to complete a fully functioning widget in the Social Media,
News/Reference, Health/Fitness, Travel/Entertainment and Humor/Fun
categories.
At the end of the camp, a panel of VIP judges will select a winner in each category who will each be awarded a $5,000 prize. The judges will then award one Best in Show winner who will receive $20,000 and the opportunity to attend the upcoming CTIA IT & Entertainment convention in San Diego from October 7-10 and have their widget showcased in Samsung’s booth.
The forthcoming Samsung Omnia II for Verizon Wireless will feature the unreleased Samsung Widget Gallery for TouchWiz compatible widgets.
