T-Mobile Launches Samsung T729 Blast

T-Mobile has officially launched the Samsung T729, now known as the Samsung Blast.

As we previously reported, this phone is the direct successor to the slow-selling T719 clamshell which featured BlackBerry Connect push email service and the SureType converged QWERTY keyboard.

What makes the Blast different besides the inclusion of the SureType keyboard is the omission of BlackBerry Connect, with T-Mobile charging email sent from the phone at the same rate as a text message.

This makes sending email a much more attractive feature than SMS and draws more customers to the phone that otherwise would not have purchased it if BlackBerry Connect was a required feature, which was one of the reasons for the low sales of the T719.

The slider form factor phone also features a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD expansion, media player, Bluetooth with A2DP stereo audio support, myFaves support, and voice dialing.

The phone is now available online for $99.99 after $80 instant discount and $50 mail-in rebate
