Sprint have revealed more details on the impending limited WiMax launch
later this year growing into nationwide service by late 2008. Samsung
will be covering Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Providence
and Washington D.C. Motorola will be covering Chicago,
Detroit, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Kansas City and
Minneapolis; and Nokia will cover Austin, Dallas, Denver, Fort
Worth, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio and Seattle.
Sprint also revealed development of an
integrated “WiMAX Device and Chipset Ecosystem” to have as
many manufacturers sign on for device development. Finally, it was also
stated that Samsung, ZTE and ZyXEL would be spearheading
development and production of WiMax USB, ExpressCard, PC Card, and
embedded modems.
