If you bought PAC-MAN awhile back, you may be in for a surprise when you upgrade phones. Now, Sprint wants to charge on Java 2 phones $2.99/month for the same game. What is supposed to happen is that you are supposed to retain the terms of the sale of the game regardless of the device, the versions are supposed to be seemless whenever possible.
Not anymore, aparrently. Sprint now offers on Java 2 phones, the same game, titled “PAC-MAN by Namco” instead of “PAC-MAN”. This distinction, while obviously the same game, is not to the system, and thus owners of a license PAC-MAN are told fork over more money each month for access to the same rights.
Sprint, stop it, or we’ll post how to extract the games from older Sprint phones… and no, that isn’t illegal, don’t even try to threaten that.
