Sprint has begun to push a new method of accessing Sprint TV. A Java application, unsurprisingly called Sprint TV, is now available for download on select modern Sprint PCS phones.
The application provides a more intuitive channel layout, giving better visual listings of available channels, and eases adding/purchasing access to new channels. Early adopters report that the application has another advantage; unlike the Media Player in Sprint phones, watching Live TV with the Sprint TV application does not time out. You can keep watching television inside of the application without having to press any key after 10 minutes.
However, not all things are perfect with the new application. Because the TV is playing inside of a Java application, quality is notably diminished slightly. This diminished quality likely points to Sprint maintaining Media Player as the default Sprint TV viewer in future phones, with Sprint TV (the Java application) as an auxiliary viewing option.
