Reuters is reporting that Sanyo has decided to put its wireless handset unit up for sale. This would end Sanyo’s longstanding interest in CDMA, as an exclusive handset maker in the U.S. for Sprint and its MVNOs (as well as abroad under KDDI in Japan).
Reports however have conflicted over the past week as to if this is actually true. Sanyo was denying reports earlier this week, and this report has only been stated by a Japanese newspaper. Reuters has not independently verified this information, though they did retract a story earlier this week where they reported the opposite information.
