Cingular has launced the LG CU400. The CU400 is a low-end UMTS phone aimed at mid-range users. Unlike the high-end CU500, the CU400 lacks HSDPA and Cingular Video. Also interesting is the claim for “domestic UMTS” support only. This appears to indicate that the CU400 supports UMTS 850/1900, and not UMTS 2100 for use abroad (it does still carry quad-band GSM). The CU400 does however add PTT to the UMTS lineup, something the CU500 does not support.
The CU400 is available for $29.99 after rebate with new two-year agreement, $229.99 without contract.
