Not long after first being announced, the first preliminary working builds of the CyanogenMod 10 Android ROM are starting to trickle out, with one of the first incomplete builds now being made unofficially available by one of the developers for the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus. The build as offered is missing the complete CM9 features, but core functionality such as data, telephony, camera and nfc are working as intended with more features to be added as development continues with no support being provided for this build.
As CyanogenMod 10 is based off of Jelly Bean, this also marks one of the most current methods to have the latest Android version on a Verizon device, as both the Verizon and Sprint versions of the Galaxy Nexus have yet to have their expected official updates to Jelly Bean rolled out despite being considered full Nexus class devices, making CyanogenMod one of the few alternatives for those looking to keep their devices current if waiting for carriers simply isn’t an option, at the expense of complete functionality.
