Note: Answers from Page Plus Cellular are paraphrased. Representatives for Page Plus asked us to not record the interview.
Page Plus today responded to the widespread concerns and complaints from consumers regarding many recent issues. Read more to see their side of the story.
Page Plus initially expressed anger at PhoneNews.com for “relying on online forums” for collaborating our report, and not contacting the company properly.
Even faced with stated apologizes from Page Plus leaders at the show, Executive Vice President Yassine Yassine continued to express frustration that PhoneNews.com did not wait until CTIA to run its report. We addressed each of these concerns and disagreed completely with his opinion that we did not take our due diligence in researching and attempting to reach media contacts for the company. Mr. Yassine dismissed our initial article as lacking any merit. Mr. Yassine did admit that Page Plus’s web site, and customer contact numbers lack any delegation or direction to a formal media contact.
In regards to unlimited plan removals, Mr. Yassine insisted that all customers affected by this are notified by text messages, refuting claims from several customers that they did not receive any text message. Further, he argued that Page Plus validates confirmation of receipt of each and every text message. At that point, customers have been moved from unlimited plans to pay as you go service.
Despite reports of users speaking with customer service, Mr. Yassine argued that no customer is forced off of Page Plus, and that they can sign up for any of the company’s other plans, including the $29.99 1200 minute “Talk and Text” plan.
The boundaries for the plan were not available, as they are based on “behavior usage patterns”, which can be triggered from brief periods, and can also be based on intra-day usage of Page Plus service. Mr. Yassine argued that these are no different from the policies that other carriers and MVNOs use, and that they can be based on call duration, number of calls, use of three-way calling, and other factors.
Many customers have expressed frustration that no customer can seek redress with a supervisor, or anyone with power to reverse the decision forcing them off of the unlimited plan. Mr. Yassine argued that he “is not in the business of being nice” and that since the decision has been made and is final, that customers would not be able to speak with any decision-maker in regards to reversing the decision. He argued that the patterns can be reviewed by customer service, and if they do not see the concern, that they can escalate these cases on their own if they see a potential error.
Even if the usage is not abusive, Mr. Yassine argued that Page Plus still has the right to consider it abusive. Because of this, he argued, customers are entitled to no pro-rated refund of the unused service.
Mr. Yassine was not aware of any customer losing a number because of these, or other account changes, though customers have reported these issues in FCC complaint filings. Mr. Yassine did welcome us to forward these customers to him so that he could intervene if this issue was ongoing. If you have been affected by this issue, please contact us and we will forward your information to Page Plus for resolving it.
In regards to the blocking of Palm, HTC, and RIM BlackBerry devices, Mr. Yassine addressed the confusion with some reasons that have been provided. Mr. Yassine confirmed that Palm and other devices have activation issues which prompted them to require re-approval with parent network operator Verizon Wireless. Page Plus has said that they hope to release Palm devices quickly. Because HTC ESN-based (not MEID-based) devices share the same prefix as Palm, they too are blocked until the issue with Palm ESN-based devices is resolved.
Other representatives confirmed that Page Plus is in negotiations with RIM to secure a formal BIS license, which Page Plus lacked when activating BlackBerry devices initially. A BIS license from the parent operator does not transfer to the MVNO, requiring Page Plus to secure their own license and pricing policies before allowing BlackBerry devices to be activated again.
Similarly, representatives confirmed prepaid devices from Verizon are blocked because Page Plus does not have a way to determine which Verizon prepaid phones have met the “6 month rule”, the term for which Verizon requires before unlocking prepaid devices for use on Verizon proper or its MVNOs.
Finally, Mr. Yassine addressed the notion which some commented on in our previous article; that Page Plus was telling customers that powered-off phones continued to use data. Mr. Yassine stated that this is actually a problem with Verizon’s network, where the NOC (Network Operations Center) continues to log data usage periods even after the phone is turned off. It is not clear at this time if that is simply lagged data billing for data which was previously used, or if the charges are erroneous. Page Plus must rely on Verizon’s network logs to determine billing, which is why Page Plus encouraged customers to remove the battery from their phones to ensure that they were properly powered off, but Mr. Yassine did agree that this was not communicated properly to customers in-depth.
[…] our report, but responded to the article formally during CTIA, which we’ve posted in a follow-up article. Trackback | Permalink […]
Hey pageplus, it doesn’t matter what you say, you are still in the wrong. And you are angry that people are expressing themselves in online forums? You guys are idiots. If you didn’t want that then offer better customer service. I hope more people see this online forum and see how bad of a business your running. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone bought you out for running your business like a lemonade stand.
Oh, by the way… Straight talk is better so go stick your heads in the sand and shut up. If you really want to help your customers than give them their service back and if you offer unlimited voice minutes, then offer unlimited minutes.
I have never even used Page Plus but have been following this story for a while because, in my opinion, it is an example of really poor customer service. I would never use a company like this. I love this statement….”Even if the usage is not abusive, Mr. Yassine argued that Page Plus still has the right to consider it abusive.” WTF does that mean??…They just decide for no valid reason you are “abusing” because they said so?? Wow!! Page Plus should really think about fixing their reputation in a hurry before other non-customers like myself point our friends to articles like these that expose the true nature of their business.
Wow….just WOW! I cannot believe that a Vice President of ANY company would say this in the light of possible FCC investigation and complaints. It is OBVIOUS that Page Plus does not have a Public Relations Department and do not care if they subject themselves to lawsuit in light of these actions. Mr. Yassine (does not sound as if he is native American) must not know the rules of this country. You cannot treat customers in any matter and not EXPECT to be subject to litigation from those parties. This is not a foreign land here!
To take advantage of customers because he feels he can, sounds as if Mr. Yassine is looking to take as much money he can from the customers that depend on his “service” and leaving the country. Hope he has a good attorney (but he must not looking at this article response) because he will be subject to the first class action pre-paid lawsuit on behalf of affected customers.
Phone News….thank you for bringing this “company” to the light of many that might think about using this service. I am sure that they will review other pre-paid options first.
Mr. Yassine argued that he “is not in the business of being nice
Priceless. Glad I don’t and will never use Page Plus.
Not in the business of being nice? Wow, what kind of incompetent moron would say such a stupid thing? WOW!
This guy is an executive VP? You have got to be kidding me!
Can you imagine any legit executive saying something like that? Especially in this situation?
There are multiple complaints against his company filed with the attorney general, the BBB, and even the FCC. His response, “I am not in the business of being nice.” WOW!
News flash Mister Asinine or whatever the heck your name is- your company will NEVER be publicly traded as long as you are working there. Why? Because shareholders would demand your immediate termination. Shareholders would never tolerate such an incompetent moron working there.
If you were a freaking janitor, and you made such a stupid statement to a media outlet- in response to the allegations against Page Plus, even the janitor would be immediately fired for it at any respectable company. An executive VP should already know better.
What we have here is a classic case of incompetent management. Mr Asinine (or whatever his name is) is obviously not even qualified to be a janitor. I’m guessing the “company” was started in his dad’s garage and that is the only reason he has a job. It most definitely can’t be related to his education or experience.
This is just a mind blowing interview. Excellent work Phone News. I don’t know what kind of awards are given out for online journalism, but you guys definitely deserve top honors for your coverage of this page plus disaster.
PagePlus used to be a great MVNO with real customer service. It’s just sad to read the clueless Mr. Yassine’s remarks. He basically admitted that the company is guilty of theft of customer funds. If the AG or FCC pursues this PP will be lucky to survive.
I am on the TnT 1200 plan and am in fear of upgrading to unlimited because who knows how they may see my phone usage. Some days I do not talk a lot and on others I may be on the phone 200 minutes a day. There were users reporting that they were turned off after using 200 minutes.
I guess I will stick to the 1200 plan until I make switch to a provider who does not randomly turn off service without proper explanations. I had enjoyed PPC for a long time but with their unpredictability, I am planing to look elsewhere.
I am looking to work with a company who is in a business of “being nice” to their paying customers.
Sad, if you need unlimited and they have coverage where you need it, I’d suggest giving Boost a try.
I’ve spent my last dollar with Page Plus due to this article. Back to TMobile.
As a Former Customer I can tell you that this statement is total crap:
“In regards to unlimited plan removals, Mr. Yassine insisted that all customers affected by this are notified by text messages, refuting claims from several customers that they did not receive any text message. Further, he argued that Page Plus validates confirmation of receipt of each and every text message. At that point, customers have been moved from unlimited plans to pay as you go service.”
The only Text message I received around 11am on 3/19/10 was one saying that my account had a Zero balance and when I got time to get on the computer and check it showed I had my $6.00 Balance, so i figured it was just a computer mistake… cause this has happened before and I called and they said they were updating there computer…
Now this statement show me EXACTLY what PAGE PLUS thinks of us the Consumer:
“Many customers have expressed frustration that no customer can seek redress with a supervisor, or anyone with power to reverse the decision forcing them off of the unlimited plan. Mr. Yassine argued that he “is not in the business of being nice†and that since the decision has been made and is final, that customers would not be able to speak with any decision-maker in regards to reversing the decision. He argued that the patterns can be reviewed by customer service, and if they do not see the concern, that they can escalate these cases on their own if they see a potential error.”
Not in the business of being Nice, well We the Former Customers of yours are not in the business of being S*&^%$d by Page Plus, we work hard for our money and some of depend on our phones for day to day personal business and some even use phones for emergency’s.
Now How would Mr. Yassine feel if some one lost there life because they depended on there page plus cell phone and had an emergency and couldn’t call there doctor for help because they were taken off the “UNLIMITED” plan (without there knowledge) and didn’t have have any credit.
I am a business man too and I would never treat my customers (or allow any of my employees) to treat them like this Nor would I make (in my opinion) Such a Blatant statement telling my customers that I’m not here to be nice to them…What business school did he go to? Cause he needs to go back there and re-learn how to deal with customers..
Now this part of his statement also something that bothers me:
“since the decision has been made and is final, that customers would not be able to speak with any decision-maker in regards to reversing the decision. He argued that the patterns can be reviewed by customer service, and if they do not see the concern, that they can escalate these cases on their own if they see a potential error.”
When I called Customer service and I asked to speak with a supervisor, or to get the phone number to the corporate office so I could talk to the people who made this so called “NON-REVERSIBLE” Decision I was told “THEY CAN NOT DO THAT THAT IT WAS CORP DECISION AND IT WAS FINAL!” At no time was I allowed to discuss my case with any I was just brushed off.
Now lets recap on 3/6/10 Page Plus got my $39.95 for my “UNLIMITED” Talk and Text plan which left me with a $6.00 balance in my account, then around 11am on 3/18/10 I received a text message saying that I my account had $0.00 and I needed to reload, later when I checked my account on the computer it said I had $6.00. So figuring this as just a computer error (like it had been in the past) I went on with life, then at 4:50am on 3/19/10 in the middle of a call my phone stops working (of course Customer service is not open to call) and I again get a text message saying that my account is $0.00, at this point I start looking at my call records on there web site and see some strange entry’s which are as follows:
11:06 AM EST Mar. 18, 2010 0.00 6.00 Credit/Replenishment
11:06 AM EST Mar. 18, 2010 0.00 6.00 Life Cycle Updates
11:05 AM EST Mar. 18, 2010 0.00 0.00 Remove Bundle Subscription Successful
11:05 AM EST Mar. 18, 2010 0.00 0.00 COSP Changes
11:05 AM EST Mar. 18, 2010 0.00 0.00 Stop Bundle Renewal Successful
That Morning I call Customer server and was told I was removed off the “UNLIMITED” plan…. I paid on 3/6/10 and my renewal date wasn’t till 3/10/10 so for my $39.95 I got exactly 9 days of service PLUS I lost $6.00 that I had in credit all with no warning or explanation.
Now is the TIME for me not to be in the business of being NICE Mr. Yassine, you and your company Stole $6.00 from me, and you Stole 22 days of phone service from me. And you can Bet I am Going after you and your company with EVERY LEGAL RESOURCE I CAN because what you did is WRONG and NOW its MY TIME NOT BE NICE!
Your company needs to be Investigated for False Advertising (let me Quite from your own web page at: https://www.pagepluscellular.com/Plans/Unlimited%20Talk%20n%20Text.aspx )
“Unlimited Prepaid Talk n Text Monthly Plan + 20MB
If you want the best unlimited calling and text messaging plan in the nation for one low monthly price, the Unlimited Talk n Text plan is right for you. Talk and text all you want for only $39.95 a month! Plus, you get 20 MB of data to use each month for things like e-mailing and surfing the web. The Unlimited Talk n Text plan has no hidden fees, and once you’re on the plan you can replenish your account and even set up automatic monthly refills right here on our website.”
Now Notice this text in the above line: “Talk and text all you want for only $39.95 a month!”
See it is False Advertising no where does it say Talk and text all you want for only $39.95 a month! up to a max of XXXX Number of mins or XXX number of text messages!
By not notifying your customers of these plan changes, you are in Breach Of Contract, by accepting my payment on 3/6/10 you Page Plus agreed to that months Contact with me for “Unlimited” Talk and Text, you Breached that Contact with out Notice
On this part of his comments:
“Despite reports of users speaking with customer service, Mr. Yassine argued that no customer is forced off of Page Plus, and that they can sign up for any of the company’s other plans, including the $29.99 1200 minute “Talk and Text†plan.”
Now this month I had The value of 22 days of UNLIMITED talk and text + $6.00 why would I want to say HAY PAGE PLUS HERES MORE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY SO YOU CAN DO THIS TO ME AGAIN!
Unless I am totally stupid or insane I would not spend any more money with your company! And well I guess by now you can tell that I am neither, I don’t like being cheated out of something that I pay for nor do I like being told that there is no one I can discuss my issue with and your company Page Plus did both of those things!
Again another Quite from the article:
“The boundaries for the plan were not available, as they are based on “behavior usage patternsâ€, which can be triggered from brief periods, and can also be based on intra-day usage of Page Plus service. Mr. Yassine argued that these are no different from the policies that other carriers and MVNOs use, and that they can be based on call duration, number of calls, use of three-way calling, and other factors.”
Of course the boundaries were not available because there bottom line is if you use it then were gonna take it away from you and see if we can get you to pay us more money so we can do it again next month!
Maybe there is no difference with other companies policies but I’m sure the “OTHER” companies would not just take peoples money and turn off there plans without Notifying them (which Page Plus) DID NOT DO!
On this comment:
“Even if the usage is not abusive, Mr. Yassine argued that Page Plus still has the right to consider it abusive. Because of this, he argued, customers are entitled to no pro-rated refund of the unused service.”
So whats being said here is that if Page Plus just decided that I made one phone call for 1min that they could consider this abusive and they could terminate me off the plan! I DON’T THINK SO!
and this “customers are entitled to no pro-rated refund of the unused service” Mr. Yassine is saying that no customer is entitled to any sort of refund, that is total crap, we the customers Paid for a month of service and as I said before Page Plus accepted our payments in exchange for a month of UNLIMITED service not for 9 days of service! and now with what Mr. Yassine said I’m sure the Courts will find that we the customers are now due more then a prorated refund, I’m sure they will also tack on additional fines against you and your company too!
And Finally this statment:
“Mr. Yassine was not aware of any customer losing a number because of these, or other account changes, though customers have reported these issues in FCC complaint filings. Mr. Yassine did welcome us to forward these customers to him so that he could intervene if this issue was ongoing. If you have been affected by this issue, please contact us and we will forward your information to Page Plus for resolving it.”
Why do you hide from your customers, you want PhoneNews.com to forward customer complaints to you, you should be Checking with Ohio Attorney General, The FCC, and the Better Business Bureau of Ohio if you want to address your customer complaints, because it appears you refuse to try and resolve these issues before they got to this point and in my opinion your beginning to see that the Power of the People is more then the power you think you have just cause your in change of a small cell phone company!
If you really wanted to resolve these issues you would have done it as soon as it happened not wait and use PhoneNews.com to take there time to forward messages, if I was PhoneNews.com I would be charging Page Plus for any messages they forward to you!!! Stop Hiding from your customers!
even if the AG did go after them, its not the first time they have had to deal with the law, for the way the dealt with money lol.

Where is your response NOW page plus? You don’t like people relying on “online forums” for their information? Well then talk to us. Oh let me guess you don’t want to be nice. Too bad. We the consumer will protect ourselves from idiot companies like yours.
here are more on the way they handle money.
http://toledoblade.com/article/20050604/NEWS02/506040443
WOW. I knew this company was garbage but this just puts it over the top. I can’t port out fast enough and over to a company that is far more deserving of my dime – Simple Mobile.
PPC can kick rocks if they really think they can succeed with a business model like this. Word spreads around FAST and that’s why they are where they are today..
superb site. its very useful

You see Mr. Yassine We your customers are not in the business is being taken of advantage and you can darn sure but were “NOT” gonna be nice either!
I’d like to see the video or written transcript of the interview, please? I mean, any journalist worth their writings would at least have documentation of the answers? I don’t personally trust the paraphrasing in this document.
Page plus. Their name is so 80’sss. This used to be the reason I didn’t switch to them. Now I have a real reason.
Jameson, you can point your problem back to Page Plus. We had several recording devices on us at the time of the interview. They asked us to turn them off, which we noted very clearly at the start of the article.
Wise up, sir.
My following Statement is not against Jameson I noticed the following line at the top of the article:
Note: Answers from Page Plus Cellular are paraphrased. Representatives for Page Plus asked us to not record the interview.
And it is my opinion that Page Plus did not want the interview taped so that they can come back in the future and deny they ever said that.
I believe that PhoneNews.com did right in respecting there wishes and I respect them for that!
I still maintain that Page Plus just didn’t want no actual record of the interview to be around because in mu opinion they are afraid that if the truth got out they would no longer have a business!
Pageplus has a little problem telling the truth at times, nothing new here. If you ever have a problem they wont fix (read=any) just email customer service threatening to dispute the charges with your bank and suddenly you get a reply, got mine in 15 minutes after sending it when NEVER before had I got one.
Oh well, mr arrafat or whatever his name is mad, I would be too if my company functioned as his did – no wonder straight talk is “the chosen one” from verizon.
On the plus side it’s 5 bucks cheaper and you can bring (some) your own phone in. They know it’s the last thing keeping them in business.
they even treat their employees bad….can not even go to the bathroom when they want to have to wait for break times if they do they get written up.
BEWARE! I tried to have them review my account to dispute the usage again denied! I spoke to a rep that said it was okay to add again if I wasn’t really abusing and did and they took that one also! Again not allowed to speak to a supervisor! This is 80 dollar that has been STOLEN from me for violating an ILLEGAL policy! They are the ones who are in breach of contract for taking my money! And by the way, no one at Page Plus will confirm that this interview even happened, and refused to honor the statements made by Mr. Yassine! Thanks for letting us know how this company runs their business and treats their representatives
Yep D.Shaffer I agree with you 100% they only got me for $46.00 if you haven’t already look in the comments here and be sure to contact the BBB. the FCC, and the Ohio Attorney General file a complaint against them especially since Mr. Yassine (and I quote) “is not in the business of being nice†Its our time to show him just how nice we are gonna be!!!!
File the Complaints, look for a lawyer and see what your legal options are against Page Plus.
I can tell you know if we all stick together in this and get these complaints file, beat the streets and let everyone know EXACTLY what Page Plus has done to us Together we have the power to cripple them and bring them down….
Our Constitution Starts off with “WE THE PEOPLE….” Well Its time Page Plus learns that it means WE THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER TO BRING DOWN THERE ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES AND WE HAVE THE POWER TO TAKE THEM DOWN WITH EVERY LEGAL OPTION WE HAVE!
Christopher Price
Could you add something to your article if possible? There is a debate over at Hofo questioning the article. You said legal checked it over. Is it a real lawyer?
I believe your article by the way. I support phone news.
I’m not sure what people are looking for us to add, at this point. If Page Plus thinks we didn’t provide their side of the story, we would be happy to share any follow-up comments that they would like to provide. They have made no attempts to contact us since running the article.
Christopher Price I’m sure you wont hear anything from them because right now they are hope-ing this thing blows over and they can get back to not “being in the business of nice”. I would suggest to PhoneNews.com that maybe its time to verify that the the BBB, FCC, and Ohio AG’s office have received complaints from the people that they have done wrong. Hell maybe even contact some of us former customers here and get our sides on the story, I have copies of all the Documents proving what they did to me and I still have the cell phone with every text message from the last two weeks before the cut off so I can prove there was NO WARNING of being switched off the “UNLIMITED” talk and text plan…. There are just a few of my suggestions since Page Plus is too scared to have a recorded interview in my opinion it shows that they have something to hide and are not man enough to come out of the shadows and own up to the fact that they did wrong, but thats ok I am not letting this go until I get Justice and see them Punished to the fullest extent of the law!

Customer Complaint History for Page Plus Cellular
BBB processed a total of 0 complaints about Page Plus Cellular in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period.
(wow that’s a strange grading scale, 0 complaints = F)
Im guessing all these long winded know it all’s are probably competitors trying to cash in and take some of the business that their service obviously cannot obtain through their own “nice” service.
Shame on you phonenews.com, you have just lost your credibility as “credible” source, and have showed yourselves to be just another cog in the rumor mill, with a b unch of conspiracy theory junkies with nothing better to do but speculate and fabricate. “we the people…” or at least all 6 of you crying on this page have not only spoken, but done it loud and clear, but the words are slurred and biased (great job guys!). Check your facts from real sources, this is just another forum for bored, unemployed people with nothing else better to do but sit in front of a computer all day, Inventing a non-existent crisis.
Bottom line, people were caught and booted. And just like the felon “who is innocent” don’t want to cowboy up and accept responsabilty for their own actions.
To: Myth Buster
There are many different page plus entry’s, if you look up there home office (the one they have listed on there web page) of just follow this link (as I posted in my last post): http://www.bbb.org/toledo/business-reviews/cellular-telephone-service/page-plus-in-holland-oh-15000800

I an not in the Phone business I am just a CONSUMER who has been TRICKED out of my money, I have no desire to make money by cashing on on this, I just want business’s like Page Plus to STOP SCR&@WING the american people!
As for this part of your comment:

Check your facts from real sources, this is just another forum for bored, unemployed people with nothing else better to do but sit in front of a computer all day, Inventing a non-existent crisis.
Bottom line, people were caught and booted. And just like the felon “who is innocent†don’t want to cowboy up and accept responsabilty for their own actions.”
PhoneNews has NOT lost there credibility as they did not look this up I did and I have no relations to Phonenews.com at all.
You are the one who needs to start looking up the facts first before you start jumping on people I provided the link where I got the info from and you could have backed tracked, checked URL links, verified IP address if you thought it was a fake link, but instead you just typed Page Plus and took the first entry you found as fact… So you see Myth Buster, you are one who did not do your home work, so its your MYTH that was busted!
Next time get your facts Straight before you start your ramblings about every one else being wrong! (follow the links and verify them first!) then make your comments!
The link works for me. I guess the genius who called us all a bunch of biased liars isn’t smart enough to click a link.
He’s probably that page plus vice president or something. Or just a general moron who spoke about something he shouldn’t have.
Any doubters out there, click the link that former customer posted. It takes you directly to the BBB with their list of complaints against Page Plus.
Thank you SaltyDawg for verifying that link for me I am not a reporter, I am just a person who has been done wrong by Page Plus and I agree with you 100%!
I will not post anything that I can not PROVE either with my own records of what they did or with links to that can be verified by anyone one the web.
I am currently waiting for a response from Ohio Attorney General and as soon I hear back from them I will post what they tell me for all to read. maybe Myth Buster needs to make a phone call to them and verify what I have said with them. Its my opinion that they have found something other wise they would not have had the BBB post on there site the people should also contact them….Hummm Goes to show I can back up what I say, and Myth Buster cant after all I didnt see his link in his post did you?
But thanks again SaltyDawg, I encourage everyone to verify everything that I post, that way its all on the up and up!
I was recently removed from the unlimited plan. I was using a few pageplus phones for phonesex. I made a lot of money ! Now they removed me. But unlimited is unlimited right ? I will file a complaint with the BB, FCC and The President of the United States.
First this is a paraphrased report of what they were reported to say. Right. That holds a lot of weight. The story is more of an opinion or a hit piece! From my experience with the service and customer service it has been great. The stories from the newspaper are old. Plus ask any person from the middle east about how they get lumped together as a terrorist. Hey if you are from the southern USA you must be a redneck, stupid slow talking person with a trailer and are married to your sister. And if you are black…. See what I mean!
Any one who busts their butt and comes up with a successful business, even more with the current political climate will be trashed as evil. But all those who are trashing the owners of the company what do you do? Other than *itch that is. Plus let’s dig up your past and put it online. Plus find all the links and add them too!
No business person that wants to be a success would make the comments listed above. Not want it recorded? More of a safe guard for who wrote this trash! Then a few people who claim they were customers posted comments that more sound like the warped mind of whom ever wrote this hit piece!
These comments are typical internet “flaming”. I have no idea how many customers Page Plus has but the customer service and the phone service id fantastic! There are many dealers who make a good living working with the company and I will bet that there are many more who will join them. So they must be all evil terrorists too? Plus think of all those stupid and evil customers who want nothing more than a reliable phone service. A service free of the greed of those contract providers. I have been with those also. The customers all must be stupid, evil terrorists too? Right??
I would bet that all those who were “removed” from a plan KNOW what they were doing and they for sure will not admit to it here. But we are a nation of “it is not my fault”! We are all adults! Well most of us.
I really do not care if this “web site” has “a pair” to post this or any other comment that differs from their “unbiased” reporting. Plus I do not really care how many trash my comments if it is posted. You see most successful people know that you never make every on happy. They do not try. You do the best you can and put your money, home or what ever on the line and home that you will make a buck.
If I would ever meet the owners of Page Plus I would thank them for their service and say I admire them for the time and toil it took to get where they are. I would even guess that they could care what a dozen or so “past” customers rant on line. Plus you are more than welcome to trash my comments. Because that is all you will do. Spend time here whining while the world passes you by. Then you can post on other sites about how unfair the world is as they are working and making money while you are unemployed and broke. But then the current group in DC will play Robin Hood and take from the rest of us to keep your butt afloat! Plus yep, I feel better now!
Excuse me, “Current HAPPY Customer”, but we have offered to post verbatim any clarifications or follow-up comments that Page Plus wishes to provide.
Again, to-date, they have not disputed or asked us to post any such follow-ups. They were the ones that asked the interview not be recorded, and we were more than prepared to do just that.
And, considering the attention that this interview has received, we may well have posted the full recording so you could hear it for yourself. Page Plus only has themselves to blame for that not being an option at this point.
Christopher Price I totally agree with you, I think PhoneNews.com has done everything you can to present both sides of this story but it has been Page Plus and there powers to be that REFUSE to go on OFFICIAL record, and there actions by not doing show (in my opinion) show that they have something to hide and that alone makes me not trust them.
As for the other posters well I don’t mind if someone wants to defend Page Plus’s business actions, hey its there right to have there own opinions and I support that. But come on people if your gonna defend them then defend them and don’t post the bogus BS stuff please. I can’t speak for everyone here but “I” will respect anyones opinion no matter what side they are on!
I think PhoneNews.com has done a great job in covering this and I support them in there attempts to bring this and other issues to the public! GREAT JOB PhoneNews.com!
Below is the Quoted response that Page Plus gave the BBB on April 1, 2010:
“On April 01, 2010, the business provided the following information:
Contact Name and Title: Pete Hopkins
Contact Phone: 4193828603
Contact Email: complaints@pagepluscellular.com
In response to your BBB Complaint Number 40015526 regarding your Page Plus Cellular account being taken off the Unlimited Talk n Text plan, the reason for the plan change made to your account is that the usage pattern identified on the phone was deemed to constitute plan abuse in accordance with our user Terms and Conditions as listed on the Page Plus Cellular Web site at http://www.pagepluscellular.com/Terms%20and%20Conditions.aspx.
Plan abuse is covered specifically by Item 6 of the Terms and Conditions which states:
”Page Plus Unlimited Plan services are provided solely for live dialogue between two individuals for personal use. Other uses have the potential to disrupt reliable service to other Page Plus customers and/or have an impact on network resources, so are therefore considered abuse of the service and will not be allowed. Such uses would include, but are not limited to, machine-to-machine, telemarketing, autodialing, transmission of broadcasts or recorded material, and any and all other commercial uses. We may determine at our sole discretion that abuse is taking place if, for instance, you are placing an unusually high number of calls of unusually long duration. We reserve the right to respond to such abuse by placing you on a different class of service or, at our discretion, terminating your service.”
When a user is identified as abusing the Plan per the Terms, it is at our sole discretion to either terminate your service or place you on a different class of service.
We opted in this case to place you on the Standard plan class of service rather than terminate your account.
As such, your usage at that point was switched from a bundled monthly plan to a per-use plan of voice minutes, text messages and data transfer.
The remaining balance in your account was used toward the subsequent usage on a per-use basis.
Due to the pattern of abuse identified on this phone, it will no longer be permitted on the Unlimited Talk n Text plan.”
AND THIS WAS MY RESPONSE TO THE BBB:
Page Plus advertises Unlimited talk and Text how ever they are false Advertising because they did all this on 3/19/10 after accepting my payment of $39.95 on 3/6/10, they removed me off the Unlimited plan with out notice and are accusing me of abusing the unlimited plan how ever there can not be abuse if the plan is advertised as “UNLIMITED” at it states on there web site at https://www.pagepluscellular.com/Plans/Unlimited%20Talk%20n%20Text.aspx and I quote from this page:
“Talk and text all you want for only $39.95 a month! Plus, you get 20 MB of data to use each month for things like e-mailing and surfing the web. The Unlimited Talk n Text plan has no hidden fees, and once you’re on the plan you can replenish your account and even set up automatic monthly refills right here on our website.”
No where here does it say if you Talk too much you will be abusing the plan and we will remove you it clearly states that you can talk as much as you want for $39.95 to which when I made my payment on 3/6/10 they were legally entered into an agreement that I would have Unlimited Talk and text on my phone, they have broken that agreement by talking my money and switching me to the Standard plan without notice and not refunding my money I paid on 3/6/10 and my bill was not due till 3/9/10
Page plus in in violation of breech of agreement, False Advertising because they did not refund my $39.95 paid on 3/6/10 or notify me that they were gonna do this.
When they advertise an Unlimited plan then it should be unlimited!
on 4/5/10 I received a certified letter in the mail from Page Plus. It was a response to my Ohio Attorney General complaint The letter was nothing more then the canned response that there Customer Service Rep’s have been told to say, Hell it was not even signed!
Below is the response I am sending the Ohio Attorney General with the letter Page Plus sent to me:
On 4/5 I recieved the attached letter from Pete Hopkins of Page Plus which was sent Via Certified Mail Return Reciept Requested.
In this letter Page Plus used there canned statment saying (and I paraphrase this) that I had violuated there Terms of service by talking too much on the unlimited plan.
What they did not adress was the fact that I paid on 3/6/10 $39.95 (my renewal was not due till 3/9/10) for a month of “Unlimited” Talk and text and on 3/19/10 Page plus with out notice removed me from the “Unlimited” plan and out me on the Standard per min plan, which caused (without any notice) the remaining balance of $6.00 in my account to be used up on calls made after they changed my plan.
Page Plus by accepting and not refunding my money paid on 3/6/10 and removng me with out notice is in violuation of Breech of agreement and or contract because when they accepted payment for my “unlimited” talk and text plan Page Plus was legally agreeing to providing me with 1 month of “unlimited” service to which I only got 9 days of service before they removed me from the plan with out notice.
Page Plus is also in violuation of False Advertising on there web site at: https://www.pagepluscellular.com/Plans/Unlimited%20Talk%20n%20Text.aspx
It clearly states that for $39.95 you get the following and I Quote them here:
“Talk and text all you want for only $39.95 a month! Plus, you get 20 MB of data to use each month for things like e-mailing and surfing the web. The Unlimited Talk n Text plan has no hidden fees, and once you’re on the plan you can replenish your account and even set up automatic monthly refills right here on our website.â€
Page Plus’s advertising is false because you do not get unlimited service, if you use the plan and you talk alot they try to say you are abusing the plan, but when you advertise something as UNLIMITED then its is UNLIMITED and you should be abale to use and talk as much as you want other wise it is not UNLIMITED.
It is is my personal opinion that by sending me a Certified letter page plus was/is trying to scare me into not proceeding with this complaint, because (correct me if I am wrong) I was under the impression that Page Plus was supposed to respond to the Ohio Attorny General and you would have farwarded the response to me. I believe that they thought I would not go pick up the certified letter thinking it was from there legal dept filing a clame againt me and then they could use it with your office to say well we wrote them but they never bothered to pick up the letter.
You will see in this letter they sent that one it is a canned message, two they did not address any of my issues, three the letter was not even signed by a repersentivate of the copmpany (in my opinion so they could deny they sent the letter which is why I am including the ORGINAL envelope with the post office info on it).
Just go here http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/SpeakOutOhio/Search-Consumer-Complaints and type in page plus if you want to see the 20+ complaints about Page Page that have so far been registered with the Ohio AG.
Mr. yAsinine has no clue how he is perceived, and how many AGs and ambulance chasers are gearing up to take him down. Too bad, two dozen complaints over a million customers would otherwise go unnoticed. Too bad, Page Plus has offered a fantastic product for years, albeit with lackluster to negligent customer service, but now it will change, and probably implode and go away.
I have dealt with businesses run by guys like him, and I generally avoid them, even if I have to pay a little bit more.
Since I dont have any unlimited accounts on PP, I will give them some grace and keep my accounts. But our new lines are going on Straight Talk and Boost until Abdul gets a lesson in PR.
I paid my bill on April 1,2010 and on the 3rd they cut off my service, I was told there was an computer glitz in the system and because Sunday was Easter,I had no service. I had my family coming in from out of town and no way to contact them so i could pick them up from the airport. During the week I was told service would be back on by Wendsday. Wed came and went so i called the call center back. I have never in my life heard some rude people and not even caring about the customer. They made it seem that it was my fault my service was off. I was then told that i would have to pay another $42.65 to reconnect my service. I had just paid my bill on the 1st so i couldn’t understand why i had to pay again. I was told there was glitz in the computer and the supervisor and manager knows about the issue and i would be credited in a day or so. I haven’t had service since and today I called 4/10/2010 and they told me that I was not getting a refund nor was i getting a credit. I wasn’t getting my service cut back on anytime soon. I was also told how many times i had called in to complain about paying a bill with my money and my service gets shut off. I wanted to know what happened and was my service going be turned back on. Customer service people were very rude and did not care about the customer, nasty attitudes. i told them so i am getting penalized for paying my bill on the 1st and being punished for not having service, and again they told me that i could call back and find out what they were going to do. Hell I already know they are not doing shit, They stole my money and took my service away.
Alle you need to contact the Ohio Attorney General and file a complaint ASAP, Page Plus already has 20 complaints if not more with them…. Find a phone and call them Monday, get that complaint in so they can act on it!

I was curious about Page Plus as a cheaper alternative, but after reading this forum I believe I will pass on them. I’ve read through all of the responses on here, and I don’t understand how Page Plus can possibly terminate anyone’s service for excessive use. Unlimited is unlimited. How can you be in excess of unlimited?
Since I’m not a customer, I don’t know how you pay, but I would assume it’s with a credit card, debit card or similar. Can’t you call your card company and get them to fight Page Plus as well? If you didn’t get what you paid for, it should be as simple as having them reverse the charge and they can take the fight to Page Plus and get the money back.
Good luck to those who got screwed, glad I wasn’t one of them.
i have had page plus for a little while now with no problems really actually i like the coverage but ive had nightmares trying to call customer service and i have friends who have had night mares with there customer service so im considering taking my service to boost mobile , i dont like being lied to and i see that its a false advertisement issue id file a class action law suite or be on one with them

the same happened to my brother in law, he paid for the service and a week later it got suspended without notification. he is a truck driver and travels out of state, good thing he didn’t he didn’t have an emergency. as for my self this is the last month I’ll b using their service…
i am currently a csr with pageplus.fro those of you that have been removed from the ultd tnt….you know what you did to be removed, if by some snow balls chance you dont then maybe you dont need to be talking on a cell phone.i think fisher-price has the perfect phone for you clowns.take your phone and go to metro or net 10…maybe even boost so you can speak to someone whos call center is in vietnam or sweden somewhere.heck half the people that call you cant understand them anyways so youde fit right in.i have the inside edge on the company so i know first hand what goes on and why.i dont need to speculate, or assume about “why you got booted from the ultd tnt”….read the terms and conditions before you start crying about your phone service.pageplus has the right to terminate service as they seem fit.perhaps you should learn to read instead of just blabbling!
ppscr your statements show just what PPC is, you say we know what we did to get removed from the unlimited plan, yea I know what I did I talked on it, I was is no way violating the TOS, all I did was talk on the phone under the supposed “UNLIMITED” plan…..and it is you you need the “Fisher PriceZ” phone as you seem to show you do not have any customer service skills at all, Your customers dont want to be talked down to, you are not above us, you forget the first rule of business “The paying customer is what pays your salary!”
What PPC is not only False Advertsing, but it is criminal because they STOLE people HARD EARNED MONEY!
I am one of the hundreds that were duped by this company’s “Unlimited Talk and Text” plan, snarled at by rude CSR’s who told me it was irreversable and hung up on me several times. I am a single mom who cannot afford another $119 phone or the $120 they took from me over the course of 2 months…I am also this company’s worst nightmare: I have not only filed complaints with the BBB, FCC, and Attorney General in Ohio, but I have also contacted ALL media outlets here in Atlanta, GA-Fox 5 is looking the most promising-I’m expecting someone to contact me from their investigative team by tommorow(see what happens when you mess with a Journalism student? lol). I have also contacted a law firm specializing in class-action lawsuits who wants to begin litigation against this company ASAP. Please, if you are one of the many who has been duped by Page Plus, send your name and contact info, regardless of where you live to dionnelazarus@yahoo.com. Let’s hit them where it hurts the most, people-their pockets!!
