Nokia has announced a new update for the AT&T Lumia 900 which adds further refinements and bugfixes to the device and operating system, along with a new feature in ‘flip-to-silence’ which allows incoming calls to be silenced by a simple flip of the phone face down, as well as camera usage from the lockscreen by pressing on the dedicated camera shutter button without needing to unlock beforehand.
“The most visible item that this update delivers is one of the newest features of the Windows Phone platform: the intuitive “flip-to-silence” function when receiving an incoming call. There are also enhancements to the performance of the startup sequence – most notably providing a more reliable boot sequence following a full depletion of the battery – as well as enhancements to camera performance when utilizing the popular “pocket-to-photo” feature that allows users to open the camera application on a locked device with a simple press of the dedicated shutter button.”
The update pushes the phone to Windows Phone Tango build 8779 and firmware build 12223. As always, updates are done over the wire via Zune on Windows or Connector on Mac OS X, with Nokia clarifying that there are three steps to the update that should total 30 minutes before the update is complete.
Mr. Saabedra do you know when at& t is going to release unlock codes for the nokia lumia 900
Flip to silent? How about you fix my WiFi issues. I’ve gone through two 900s both with WiFi issues
Jesse,
The Lumia 900 is exclusive to AT&T in the United States. Per AT&T’s unlocking policy, they do not release subsidy unlock codes for devices that are exclusive to AT&T in the United States.
As such, I don’t think AT&T will ever offer subsidy unlocks for the Lumia 900. The good news is that 4G LTE AT&T MVNOs are coming online, and you should be able to use them on lower-cost MVNO services soon.
Thanks for the review! Just updated my phone. Sorry you have WiFi issues, marcus. My WiFi works perfectly.
I am having issues with my touch screen. Sometimes it is no responsive and won’t let me answer calls.
