Samsung has announced the Thursday US launch of the successor to the original Galaxy Note in the Note 10.1. The Note 10.1 now features a pressure sensitive digitizer layer that is tied into the new version of the bundled S Pen capacitive stylus and related application suite with the goal of selling the tablet to more specific customers, such as artists and graphic designers.
Key features of the Note 10.1 include a 10-inch 1,280 x 800 TFT LCD display, quad-core Exynos 4 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, 2GB RAM, microSD storage expandable to 64GB, 1.9-megapixel front-facing / 5-megapixel rear cameras and a 7,000mAh battery. The tablet will be offered in two versions at 16GB and 32GB WiFi-priced at $499 and $549, respectively. With the larger Note 10.1, Samsung looks to satisfy customers that were initially attracted to the idea of the original Note, but felt that the original 5.3 inch model was too small for more in-depth work or the performance of the tablet wasn’t up to expectations.
