Sprint has killed a plan to give LG 1200 owners SMS. Virgin Mobile was going to carry the LG 1200 with SMS, and Sprint had planned to release a firmware update to enable two-way SMS. The update would have been simple to make, as the LG 1200’s lack of SMS was by Sprint’s request.
The update was also easy to implement, since the SMS lacked Shortmail, there would have been no problem in having the system identify if the phone had the update or not. But now that it appears unlikely that Virgin will carry the 1200, Sprint has killed all plans to offer the update.
