HTC One Mini Injunction Relaxed In The UK Pending Further Appeals

By Humberto Saabedra on December 12, 2013

htc-one-mini-side-tallAfter being threatened with an injunction of its current smartphone line in the UK after having been found to infringe on a Nokia patent earlier this month, the UK Appeals Court now overseeing the case has relaxed the injunction against HTC and the One Mini, meaning that the device can continue sales in the country despite the losing verdict, as HTC filed its appeal against the verdict and has released a statement regarding the latest positive development:

HTC is delighted that the Court of Appeals has granted a stay on the injunction against our products. We will immediately resume shipment of all of our devices into the UK, including the entire HTC One family. Similarly, our customers should feel confident in their ability to promote and sell all HTC devices. Even though we plan to aggressively appeal the validity decision of Nokia’s EP 0 998 024 patent, we will continue to work with our chip suppliers on alternative solutions to ensure minimal disruption to our business in the future.

This also means that other devices in HTC’s current lineup can continue to be sold, pending final outcome of the appeal. While the appeals process will take months, this positive development at least ensures that HTC won’t be left exposed to losses that would have been incurred by the import and sales ban.
