New customers or customers upgrading to the HTC Droid Incredible will be treated to a quiet transition from the former AMOLED display that has caused HTC supply constraints and availability issues with the popular Android device to the more commonly available Sony-sourced SLCD display beginning at the end of the month online and in store with an ongoing transition as stock levels are determined.
Internal documentation has also confirmed the the sales SKU for the Incredible will also be changed to reflect the different display type, while those receiving Certified Like New replacements under Verizon’s program will be receiving like-for-like replacements, calming fears that those that initially purchased the device would be forced to accept a replacement with the new display if needing a replacement.
PhoneNews.com was the first to report that the Droid Incredible would be modified to drop its AMOLED display.
