HTC Announces the One Mini Android Smartphone

HTC has officially announced its first variant of the One series flagship in the One Mini. The One Mini was developed after the demand for the original One was tempered by the fact that a sizable quantity of potential customers were turned off by the size of the original One smartphone. The One Mini is scaled down to a more manageable 4.3 inch 720p resolution display while still retaining the sealed aluminum bodyshell at the expense of a smaller 1800mAh battery, polycarbonate edges and the exclusion of the optical image stabilization assembly for its UltraPixel camera assembly along with the exclusion of NFC support.

The phone is otherwise slightly different to the original One flagship with 16GB of storage built in and a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 series processor with 1GB of RAM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, DLNA support, and GPS underpinned by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and the same version of Sense 5 and Blinkfeed found on the One with the same front-facing stereo BoomSound speakers, the only difference being a slightly lower resolution 1.6 megapixel front facing camera with 720p video capture. HTC has confirmed future availability of the One Mini around the world in the next 2 months, but has yet to confirm availability for the US.
