HTC has confirmed on its dedicated Android updates portal that the Sprint HTC One is the first carrier variant of the smartphone to receive the long-awaited update following weeks of guarantees and missed deadlines, which is par for the course with updates for Sprint HTC devices. The confirmation would normally mean that the over-the-air update and rollout would also begin concurrently with the announcement, but this is not the case.
Currently, the only way to ensure reception of the update is by manually checking for the update according to Sprint, otherwise the update will not rollout over-the-air until February 11th, one week after the announcement of the update. The update pushes the phone’s Android version to 4.4.2 along with adding Sense 5.5. The software version will be pushed up to 4.06.651.4.
