Cricket Fires Back At T-Mobile And Sprint With More Data On Plans

Following T-Mobile’s most recent moves with Simply Prepaid plansĀ  and GoSmart’s data increases, AT&T’s Cricket is firingĀ  back with even more data and a limited-time 20GB monthly plan. The updated plans are found below and include pricing with and without auto-pay discounts:

Plan Name Monthly Price Hi-Speed Data Before Throttling Allowed devices
Talk & Text $25 none Basic phones $ BYOP SIMs
Basic $40 ($35 with autopay) 2.5 GB (previously 1GB) Any
Smart $50 ($45 with autopay) 5 GB (previously 3GB) Any
Pro $60 ($55 with autopay) 10 GB Any
Advanced (Limited Time Promotional Plan)
$60 ($55 with autopay) 20 GB LTE capable phones only

The Advanced plan is notable for targeting the heaviest data users, but it is excluded from Cricket’s Group Save multi-line discount program, while the Basic Smart and Pro plans get substantial monthly data increases that either match Boost Mobile’s Auto-Pay promotion or fall inline with current trends, suggesting that Cricket is competing directly with Sprint Prepaid’s Boost Mobile and T-Mobile Prepaid, but seemingly ignores MetroPCS, who currently offers a $50 truly unlimited plan with full-speed LTE access, while Cricket throttles LTE speeds to 8Mbps and HSPA+ to 4Mbps.
