Phone Scoop is reporting, but we still cannot confirm, that Cingular will not be releasing the existing Nokia 6282 and N80. While getting FCC approval earlier in the week, Cingular is reported to have chosen to only launch with handsets supporting both UMTS 1900 and UMTS 850. We previously broke news showing both the 6282 and N80 would have only UMTS 1900, highlighting Cingular’s previous plans to launch at least initially with UMTS 1900 only.
The added delays to this launch cycle could easily add at least 3-6 months to Cingular’s consumer UMTS services launch timeframe.
