Acer Aspire S5

Acer has announced the forthcoming launch of what it claims is the world’s thinnest ultrabook in the Acer Aspire S5 at less than 3lbs with a 13.3 inch display. The ultrabook will also feature Acer’s own Acer Green Instant On and Acer Always Connect for data upload and retrieval with power-saving features.

Acer Ultra Timeline series

Following up Acer has also announced an update to its Aspire Timeline Ultra which now features a claimed 8 hours of battery life, high performance and a 2-spindle design in an Ultrabook with Acer’s Green Instant On technology for fast boot/resume, and Acer Always Connect technology.

The new Aspire Timeline Ultra measure just 20 mm thin, boast more than 8 hours of battery life,1 the latest Intel® Core™ i series processor, dedicated graphics and a slim DVD-Super Multi optical drive, an SSD/HDD storage option, Dolby® Home Theater® v4 surround sound, as well as HDMI® and USB 3.0 ports, PowerSmart long-life battery pack option. The Aspire Timeline Ultra will start shipping in the first quarter of this year.

Acer has announced its entry in cloud storage with Acer Cloud, which will be offered on all Acer ultrabooks and laptops beginning in the second quarter. The technology consists of PicStream for easy synching of pictures from smartphones, AcerCloud Docs for documents and files, both with 30 day availability in the cloud with permanent back ups on PC.

The third component to Acer Cloud is the integration of Cloud.fi in the Cloud for wireless streaming of multimedia with Android compatibility and future compatibility with Windows Phone in a future update. The service will make its commercial debut in the second quarter and be made available in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Mainland China.
