BitPim, the popular phone access software, has modified its release notes for the latest version. In those modified release notes, they state that they are discontinuing the production of the Mac version of BitPim.
No public reason was given for the discontinuation of Mac support. However, BitPim’s Mac support has decayed over the past couple of years since its initial release. The application was not updated to take advantage of Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” (though remaining compatible with Tiger). In addition, a Universal Binary version of the application was never released, forcing Intel-based Mac owners to run the application using Rosetta emulation.
BitPim does however run on Intel-based Macs via Boot Camp with a free Linux installation, as well as while running Windows XP.
