According to several news sources, a lawsuit has been filed against Panasonic/Matsushita, Samsung and Nokia over alleged patent infringements of the Bluetooth Standard. The suit, filed by the Washington Research Foundation seeks to recover unspecified damages over products that contain a particular chipset made by radio frequency chipset manufacturer CSR.
Since this manufacturer does not sell directly in the US, the Washington Research Foundation is going after companies that include Bluetooth chipsets and radios made by this manufacturer, claiming it infringes on an RF technology patent the foundation owns. More news as it becomes available as this is shaping up to be an interesting case.
