We did get a chance to see Sierra’s new AirCard 402 in action. Unlike other ExpressCard solutions that offer optional PC Card adapters, this EV-DO card comes with the PC Card adapter built-in to the product. It allows for easy interchanging by sliding the ExpressCard module into the pre-formatted dock.
Surprisingly, it won us over in style and substance… though we’ll wait for a shipping version to put it through its paces in the substance arena. Novatel usually wins the style game, but for a mostly-internal card, it’s hard to beat the standard set by the AirCard 402 this time around.
And yes, we’ll start off by saying that the next battle will be for an integrated PC Card + ExpressCard + USB adapter.
