The FCC has showcased two phones this week that have been approved for launch. The long-covered HTC Dream will be the first phone to ship running on the Android Linux-based platform, and will launch initially as a T-Mobile exclusive. The FCC documents have not added any significant new information about the device, as confidentiality has sealed most of the filing.
More informative, however, is the disclosure of the Samsung M530. This phone will continue Sprint’s mid-range Samsung M-class, but will return to the traditional flip-form factor that the M500 and M510 used. The current SPH-M520 is a slider phone, the only traditional slider phone currently sold on Sprint. The M530 will add external music and media player controls, but otherwise will be similar to the M510 in design and specifications.
