Orb Networks has issued a new update for their popular placeshifting software. The update to their 2.0 version, which has been in perpetual beta, now has basic support for the Apple iPhone.
The update adds support for playing back H.264 video content and MP3 audio on the iPhone, while browsing the Orb MyCast interface. Orb does not yet support playing Live TV from user’s home computers, only locally-stored H.264 content on a Windows PC. Orb cautions that H.264 content inside of MP4s is limited in terms of support, something PhoneNews.com first discovered as a limitation of the iPhone software.
Existing Orb users can update simply by logging into mycast.orb.com and an update prompt will appear.
