Palm Gives Verizon Treos New Firmware

Palm has formally issued new firmware updates for all three modern Treo units on Verizon Wireless. The new firmware updates cover the Treo 700p, Treo 700w, and Treo 700wx.

The Palm update, which we covered previously, is now available for users to install themselves. The update was just released to Verizon Wireless Stores, and is identical to the Sprint Treo 700p update.

Specifically, the update adds support for both A2DP and Wireless Modem support, two features that Palm had to release this update in order to enable. Palm was criticized on this web site heavily for refusing to update the Treo 700w/wx, while giving the Treo 750 on AT&T both AKU 3, and a free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.
