The first image of a forthcoming WiMax smart device from Sprint and HTC has surfaced.
The device currently known under the code name Supersonic will feature HTC’s Sense UI overlaid on top of Android 2.1 and bases its design on the HD series and MAX 4G available in Russia.
The rest of the featureset will consist of an FM radio, Snapdragon hardware at 1GHz and a large 4.3 inch capacitive display.
Ohhh… the specs are sweet.. but the design is FUGLY 🙁
Kind earlier to say the design is “fugly”. I haven’t seen any real clear pictures yet to make my determination, but I can say I’ll probably be trading in my Hero on a Supersonic.
This is the first android phone I really like.
but it’s 4G!!! its gonna fly!!
Finally a phone with WiMAX so We can take full advantage of Mobile WiMAX…..
Just wondering about the retail price……..
Just Love IT!!!
I believe it will no dought give a push to WiMAX Networks and services we can use with it….
I love it. but when will the LTE HTC comes?
I don’t think snapdragon supports wimax. It must be some other chipset inside.
It’s an auxiliary radio chip, just like other notebooks and smartphones. SnapDragon is just the CPU. If this is any indication of the evolution of wireless, I can’t wait to see what the next two years will look like.
Snapdragon is just a processor isn’t it? the actual radio is probably a Broadcom or Qualcomm unit. Should not have any bearing on whether or not it’s CDMA, WIMAX or GSM. But I could be wrong.
Snapdragon is both a cellular chipset and processor core. The processor alone is known as Scorpion.
I’m not aware of Qualcomm really upselling Scorpion at all, it likely would only be sold if you had an iPad or iPhone style arrangement, where some devices do not have a cellular radio.
