Motorola has been making remarks that they will bring the Motorola A890 video phone, supporting up to an hour of video capture to the United States.
It’s not obvious that Sprint has been asking phone makers for Video 1xRTT phones, we have heard Sanyo has offered one, and Samsung’s A700 offering proved it (even though they may not carry the device).
It sounds like this Sprint does not want to offer 1xRTT video phones, but would rather like to wait for 1xEV-DV. However, this may be one of their “backup plans” that they have publically elluded to if W-CDMA and 1xEV-DO are launched regionally (and nationally) leaving Sprint in the (temporary) dust.
