Core Mobility, which is beginning to become the Area 51 of Sprint’s research and development, has finalized deployment of what we reported way back on, ReadyLink SMS.
Marketed as VoiceSMS, Core Mobility has expanded the platform to allow Voice SMS phones to work with every type of cell phone, and even email. Voice SMS messages sent to other Voice SMS phones will be downloaded in the background and appear in the VoiceSMS inbox. VoiceSMSes sent to regular cell phones will receive a text message with a number to call to play the message back, where they can also send a reply which will be forwarded to the original sender’s voice inbox. Email recipients will respond via text message, and the VoiceSMS will appear as an audio attachment to the email.
Voice SMS will first appear in the Samsung RL-A760. Core Mobility has also been working behind the scenes on Firmware-OTA, ensuring that Sprint’s systems will be able to push firmware wirelessly, and Core Mobility FOTA client will also begin appearing in Sanyo phones…
