Verizon today announced that EV-DO has been officially launched in an additional 11 markets, bringing the total count to 14 markets covered. The following cities were launched today:
Atlanta
Austin, TX
Baltimore
Kansas City, KS/MO
Los Angeles
Miami/Fort Lauderdale, FL
Milwaukee
New York
Philadelphia
Tampa, FL
West Palm Beach, FL
In addition, Verizon announced they have increased capacity and coverage in San Diego, CA and Washington DC.
Upon pressing PR reps for more information as to EV-DO handset delays, we were informed that no EV-DO handset should be expected before 2005 at this point. However, others are saying that the phones are now back on track for a late 2004 release. As we said on last report, the best thing that can be reported is that the release date is still “fluid”…
