Verizon has announced that it will waive charges for voice and text messaging services for those affected by Hurricane Sandy for services rendered between October 29th and November 16th for those that did manage to maintain contact for that period.
The only exceptions include access charges to make and receive calls while data access will still be charged as normal for the aforementioned period. Below the list of cities in which Verizon is enacting the program:
New York: Bronx County, Kings County, Nassau County, New York County, Putnam County, Queens County, Richmond County, Rockland County, Suffolk County, and Westchester County.
New Jersey: Atlantic City, Bergen County, Burlington County, Camden County, Cape May County, Cumberland County, Essex County, Gloucester County, Hudson County, Hunterdon County, Mercer County, Middlesex County, Monmouth County, Morris County, Ocean County, Passaic County, Salem County, Somerset County, Sussex County, Union County, and Warren County.
Verizon customers can also call the carrier at 1-800-922-0204 and make a case for inclusion in the program if customers live outside the above mentioned county, which Verizon would then weigh on a case-by-case basis.
However, and in a bit of silver lining, the respective charges will be waived without any need for customer intervention, in contrast to previous weather-related events. In contrast, Sprint and AT&T have both confirmed in separate statements that while it will waive late fees for services rendered in the wake of the hurricane, it will still charge for service as normal for affected customers.
This was nice step taken by all this company I just want to say thanks for your support at that tough time.
