Verizon has begun rolling out a large non-generational update for the Samsung Galaxy Camera, the first update for the Android-powered camera since being released late last year to little fanfare outside of gadget circles.
The update adds a combination of Samsung “S” apps typically bundled with flagship models as well as improved camera-oriented functionality such as new Smart Camera modes for a total of 19, a dedicated Help application for first time users, S Memo for capturing notes and Remote Viewfinder app support to allow compatible smartphones to control the camera with the following functionality:
- Still image capture
- Zoom control
- Flash control
- Timer setting
- Resolution setting
- Save images on GALAXY Camera and Smart Phone (resize image on Smart Phone)
The update pushes the software version to JZO54K.GC120VRAMC4 and is currently being rolled out over the air. Outside of this update Verizon and Samsung have yet to confirm whether the Galaxy Camera will be updated to Jelly Bean 4.2.2, as the Galaxy Camera is based off of the Galaxy S III reference hardware design and is heavily modified to accommodate the more conventional compact camera design.
