After months of listing, delisting and rumors, Walmart.com has started listing the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S Showcase, the next Verizon-powered Android phone that has been the subject of heavy rumor and speculation since it first appeared in StraightTalk’s activation help page earlier this Summer, with the user guide now available. The phone is essentially a rebranded Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate and features the following specifications:
- 3G/Wi-Fi Connectivity
- 5.0 megapixel Camera/Video Recorder
- 7 Home Screens
- Alarm Clock
- Bluetooth
- Call Waiting
- Caller ID
- Android Gingerbread
- GPS Enabled
- Gravity Sensor/Tilt and Shake
- HAC Compatible
- Handsfree Speaker
- Instant Messaging
- MP-3 Player
- Multitasking
- Text/Picture Messaging
- Touch Screen
- Voicemail
Walmart and StraightTalk have yet to list retail pricing for the phone but is expected to be inline with other previous high-end models around the $350-$400 range owing to its specifications, although the phone shipping with Android Gingerbread makes it difficult to justify such pricing and kicks it down to mid-range status for many, but the fact that it runs off of Verizon’s network will outweigh any other negatives in terms of Android versions for many.
Enter StraightTalk’s First Android ICS Phone
After being rumored for a few months as a part of Tracfone’s lineup, the first solid details on the AT&T-powered Samsung Galaxy Discover have been revealed as a mid-range Android smartphone and the first ICS-powered smartphone on StraightTalk’s lineup when it’s released sometime next month. The phone features the following specifications:
- Size 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.5
- Standby time Up to 11 days
- Talk time Up to 8.5 hours
- Weight 4.3 (ounces)
Included Accessories:
- AC Adapter
- Battery
Features:
- 3.0 megapixel Camera/Video Recorder
- 3G/Wi-Fi Connectivity
- 5 Home Screens
- Alarm Clock
- Android Ice Cream Sandwich
- Bluetooth
- Call Waiting
- Caller ID
- GPS Enabled
- Gravity Sensor/Tilt and Shake
- HAC Compatible
- Handsfree Speaker
- Instant Messaging
- MP3 Player
- Multitasking
- Text/Picture Messaging
- Touch Screen
- Voicemail
While the phone features Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s important to note that the display will be an HVGA resolution touch display, presumably to keep costs down as the performance of the phone according to its user manual leads to an mid-range impression of the device. With both devices meant to round out StraightTalk’s and Net10’s respective lineups for the year, time will tell whether both phones will satisfy customers needs.
I wonder when can buy showcase ?
