Verizon Wireless is now selling the Windows Phone HTC One (M8) version for $99.99 after new 2 year agreement. The One for Windows Phone is the first Windows Phone 8.1 device that takes advantage of Microsoft’s latest update to Windows Phone that allows the operating system to run on reference Android hardware without additional changes, and will allow for more such device variants in the future. The only features missing from the One for Windows Phone are certain gestures that are only supported on the Android version. Otherwise, this phone is identical to the Android version released earlier this year in terms of hardware, even carrying over some key HTC One (M8) functionality, such as Blinkfeed, the HTC Duo Camera software, Sense TV, Video Highlights, and BoomSound.
Not to be left out. AT&T has also announced plans to release its own version of the One for Windows, despite Verizon Wireless heavily touting the phone as a carrier exclusive in all of its marketing and even during yesterday’s press event to announce the phone.
yea, they’re selling it but won’t support their existing 8.0 customers
My understanding is the HTC Windows Phone 8.0 devices are still slated to receive 8.1.
