Verizon Wireless has launched the fourth iteration of the now firmly entrenched Motorola Droid Android smartphone, with significant improvements over the third generation predecessor such as a larger 4-inch display at 960×540 resolution, 8.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and 1080p video capture. The Droid 4 also features a redesigned QWERTY keyboard with a dedicated number row and also includes 4G LTE support along with a future update planned to enable the currently dormant global roaming support.
Along with the above planned update, Motorola is also planning an update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich for the phone while it currently ships with Android Gingerbread and full Webtop support for the companion second generation Webtop units.
To drive even more interest, Amazon Wireless is currently undercutting Verizon’s $199.99 launch pricing by $100 to $99.99 after the same contract terms and with the rebooted Double data promotion beginning this weekend, this makes it the best time to jump on the Droid 4 for new customers.
